Challenge
Understand factors that limit adherence and create a new FDA approved efficacious vaccination delivery device that could be self-administered by non-health professionals in non-clinical settings.
Approach
Use clinical setting observations with health professionals, usability testing with nurses and patient novices, and participate in frequent prototyping exercises with design and engineering teams.
Results
Insights and deliverables led to a product line, brand marketing, patents, an FDA consideration of its viability and eventual stockpiling of the application tool as an emergency pandemic solution.
