Challenge
Understand factors leading to positive and negative adherence of a trial HIV vaccine among high risk MSM population in San Francisco as part of an international study.
Approach
Use focus groups and in depth interviews to determine vaccine trial participant values, concerns, side effects, and the best ways to support other patients in prescribed use of drug.
Results
The insights led to a journal publication on how best to support vaccine adherence among high-risk MSM patients through pill taking strategies and a variety of incentives.
